Searching Tips
When you are keyword searching for information, keep the following netTrekker tips in mind:
netTrekker is case insensitive, which means that it treats all of the text you enter as lower case. Capitalizing some words and not others will not make a difference.
It does not matter to netTrekker whether you enter singular or plural words. In other words, if you type "frogs," netTrekker will list all the sites that match "frog" and "frogs."
If you type a phrase or title, such as "man with one red shoe," netTrekker will give you all the sites that match "man," "one," "red," and "shoe." If it finds a site that contains the exact phrase you typed, it will list that site first on the Search Results page. It lists the next closest match after that, and so on. You do not need to put the phrase or title in quotation marks to find sites that match a phrase exactly.
If you enter a keyword that has multiple meanings, such as the word "mass," netTrekker will display all the websites that match all of the meanings of the word. This means some of the websites will be related to "mass" in the scientific sense, and others will be about religious masses. To narrow your search results, enter more keywords. For example, type "Catholic mass" to get websites on that specific topic. Or, perform a Search in Context: drill down into Religion, and then enter "mass" into the Keyword Search box, making sure to select "Search Within This Topic." A further option is to use the Subject Refinement Menu tab to see which subject areas your search results come from, then drill down to find the area that is most useful for your intent.
