Once you are in igottanT, you are ready to Organize. You have three options for organizing your notes: a document, a slideshow, or a timeline. Simply choose which format you wish to use. Section A below shows where you create new documents. Section B below shows a list of the documents you have already created. You can choose to create a new form or open an existing one here.

Example of Organization Options:

Once you make your choice, the application provides dialogue boxes which will direct you through the process. As you drag and drop your notecards into any of these formats, the appropriate citations will be added from the data you put in the citation boxed when you created your notecards. A Works Cited page will automatically be created, as well.

Outline

Example of Outline form:

It is helpful to create an outline to logically order information for research reports, presentations or even an essay. For research reports, an outline may help you keep track of large amounts of information.  Many people find that organizing a presentation in outline form helps them speak more effectively in front of a group. Outlining a document can help you conceptualize and plan its content.

To create an outline you can use the buttons in the Document Outline panel to add topics and subtopics, and drag and drop notecards from the Notecard panel to the outline panel.

Use buttons in the Document Outline panel to promote or demote topics, or move topics up or down in your outline.

Depending on your needs, or possibly to submit your work to your teacher, there are features to view, print, email or download your outline.

Document

A document can present and illustrate an event in history, or explain a statistical trend in economics. It can synthesize your research on famous person, or report the results of a science experiment.

Example of Outline and Document:

To create a document you must first create the outline for the document.  Use the buttons in the Document Outline panel to add your own topics and subtopics, or drag and drop notecards from the Notecard panel into the outline to add the text and media saved on your notecards.  Your document is created directly from your outline. Any changes to your outline are immediately reflected in your document.

From within the document panel, you can edit the topics created in the outline.  Any changes are immediately reflected in the outline.  Text can be added directly to the document by right-clicking on a topic in the document panel and selecting to add text above or below the topic.  The added text is connected to the topic and will move with it in the outline.

You can directly edit text from notecards included in the document.  From the documents panel, simply edit the displayed text.  When text is changed you will be prompted to save changes for current notecard or make a copy.  You may want to consider making a copy if that notecard is used in another assignment. Text can be added directly to the document by right-clicking on a notecard in the document panel and selecting to add text above or below the notecard.  The added text is connected to the notecard and will move with it in the outline. You can also decide to hide  the title, text or media from any included notecard.

Slideshow

A slideshow can present and illustrate an event in history, or explain a statistical trend in economics. It can synthesize your research on famous person, or report the results of a science experiment.

Example of Slideshow Template:

To create a slideshow you may select one of four slide layouts: Title slide, Section Header slide, Single Notecard slide, or Double Notecard slide. You can edit the title and headers directly in the slideshow.  You can drag and drop notecards from the Notecard panel into the slides to add the text and media saved on your notecards.

You can edit the headings and sub-headings directly on the slides.  You can edit text from included notecards directly in the slideshow.  When text is changed you will be prompted to save changes on current notecard or make a copy.  You may want to consider making a copy if that notecard is used in another assignment.  You can also decide to hide  the title, text or media from any included notecard.

Depending on your needs, or possibly to submit your work to your teacher, there are features to rename, delete, view, print, email and download your slideshow. The download option provides the ability to export your slideshow from igottanT to finalize and format with your favorite presentation tool.

Timeline

A timeline can visually organize and represent  any date-related information.

Example of Timeline Template:

You create a timeline by plotting events.  Each event can have multiple media notecards and one text-only notecard. Use the Timeline Views button to switch between a Classic, Compact or Grid View.

Click the Auto Plot arrow in the Notecard Panel, to automatically plot a notecard that already has a time value associated with it.  Use the Auto Plot Notecards option (available under the Timeline Options drop-down menu) to quickly plot multiple notecards.

Drag and drop a notecard from the Notecard Panel directly onto the timeline displayed in a Classic for Compact view. This gives you the flexibility to position the notecard at a particular point in time.

In addition, you can dynamically create an event using the Add Event button.  This feature allows you to drag and drop in notecards to provide additional information.

You can also enter information for multiple events simultaneously in the Grid View. You can drag and drop notecards onto a row in the grid; each row represents an event.

Depending on your needs, or possibly to submit your work to your teacher, there are features to rename, delete, view, print, email and download your timeline.
